Warranty and Process

Because we are a member of New Zealand Certified Builders all new builds and major renovations come with the Halo 10 Year Guarantee so you can build or renovate with peace of mind.

Rest assured that in the unlikely event something happens to your builder or NZCB itself during your building project, you won’t be out of pocket. Plus, if you sell your property within 10 years, the guarantee automatically passes over to the new owner.

If for whatever reason your builder fails to complete the building or rectify the defect, Halo will step in and fix the problem.  The cover extends not only to fixing any defects but also any damage to existing structures caused by the defect

*Please note that all projects $30,000 an over will require a Halo 10 Year Residential Guarantee to be taken out. This includes new builds, additions, alternations, renovations, remedial work and labour only contracts

What are you covered for?

  • Loss of deposit should the builder fail to start your project
  • Extra costs to complete the dwelling.
  • Structural defects for 10 years including weather tightness.
  • Non-structural defects for ten years.
  • Sub-Contractors and Suppliers: Where the NZCB member is the head contractor, defects arising from materials and work supplied by sub-contractors and suppliers are insured
  • Other Damage: The cost to repair other damage to the house caused by the defect, up to the full policy sum insured
  • Up to 6 months’s reasonable alternative accommodation expenses whilst the house is being repaired
